I tried something new...

The other night I was looking for something new to make, when I came across a strange cookbook that I had. It was from Boar's Head - the deli company. Um, OK. It seemed a little strange, but they had this chicken penne dish that sounded great. I had to alter it slightly but... it turned out great!

After cooking the penne according to the directions on the box, I melted 2 tablespoons of butter in a sauce pan, added 2 tablespoons of flour, 2/3 cup of milk, 2/3 cup of chicken broth and some garlic salt. Once the sauce started to thicken, I poured it over the drained penne and added a couple of handfuls of Perdue Chicken Shortcuts. (I was in a hurry people!)

It was great for a quick meal. Very creamy and yummy. Josh liked it too. His only complaint was that there was not enough meat. Then again, there's never enough meat!

Ginger Tuna

Ok, I haven't been very adventurous with my cooking lately. But last night I took a big step and made ahi tuna steaks with fresh ginger.

This is a big step because a) I'm not very good at cooking fish, b) I don't even like fish and c) I have never used fresh ginger before.

Josh liked it, but me, well... I already said I'm not a fan of fish.

I basically just took a few glugs of olive oil and a few of soy sauce, then grated fresh ginger, garlic and lemon zest into the olive oil/soy sauce mixture and marinated the steaks for a little while before throwing them in a frying pan for 9 minutes, flipping halfway through.

They were done correctly and I even ate about 1/3 of my steak. Josh ate his whole one. That's how I know they were good!
